Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market is one of the coolest “new” things in Atlanta. It is a renovated Sears factory that now serves as a market that consists of different restaurants, shops and bars. Like many others, my favorite thing about this place is The Roof/Skyline Park. On the roof of ther building there is a “carnival” that takes place 365 days a year. It is a perfect place to go year round. In the summer you can chill, play putt-putt and drink Froze (frozen Rose wine), while in the winter they install an ice skating rink.

There are different events all year so check out the most up-to-date schedule here: https://www.poncecityroof.com/

It cost $10 for access to the roof. All of the carnival games are moderately priced from $1-$3 and the drinks are very affordable. There is also a Beer Garden called 9 Mile Station where you can make a reservation for $20 (per person), you get free access to the roof, and the $20 deposit is taken off of your bill, which is great!

Krog Street Market

Probably my favorite place to go and relax in the ATL. Krog Street Market is a very relaxed “market” that is filled with mini restaurants serving some of the best cuisine in Atlanta. My favorite thing to get there is a chicken shawarma wrap from Yala, but honestly everything I’ve tried at Krog Street is amazing. There is also a bar set up next to the eating area that provides for a very relaxing atmosphere. For me, whether I have a free lunch break or a whole afternoon to chill Krog Street Market is where I end up 90% of the time.

Breweries

One very special thing about Atlanta is that it is FULL of breweries. To be honest, I am not a fan of beer at all, but I love to go chill at breweries in the city with friends (and mostly because they bring their dogs) Sweetwater Brewery is my favorite, it has a large outdoor area of tables and games and sometimes live music as well. You can also get a free tour of the building if you want. I also like Monday Night Brewery because it is open on weekdays and is a great spot to stop after work (great fire pits as well for the fall time)

I can’t really speak one the quality of beer (I’m more of a tequila kinda girl) but my friends drink a lot every time we go so I’m going to assume it’s good.

The one thing about these breweries that is a little difficult is the hours that they are open. It varies by brewery so be sure to check online before you go. Your best bet is to go on a Friday afternoon or Saturday for most of them.

Eclipse di Luna

My absolute favorite place to go in Atlanta. There are two tapas bars called Eclipse di Luna. They have the best happy hour in the city, $5 drinks and ½ off tapas from 4:00-6:00 Monday - Friday (the one located on Miami Circle does not have happy hour on Friday).

The menu changes by season but literally everything that they serve is so good. An if you want to have one of the best mojitos of your life be sure to order one there (my favorite is the passion fruit)

Also, if you’re into Latin music Eclipse di Luna is great as well. On Thursday the one located at Perimeter mall turns into a club with Reggaeton, Bachata and Salsa music, and on Saturday’s the one located on Miami Circle dose the same thing but it is most focused on Salsa music.

Atlanta United Match

The biggest thing to happen to the city of Atlanta since 2017 is it’s new professional soccer team, Atlanta United. If you’re in the city between March and October (or if they make playoffs they will play into November/December) be sure to catch and ATL UTD match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The tickets can get a little pricey because they are all sold on resale (The club sells out every match at at least 42,000 people) but I promise you it’s worth the $60-$100 per person. If you want to get rowdy before the match head to the stadium early and ask for “The Gulch”. This is where all of the supporter tailgate. Ask where the supporters groups are (Resergence, Footie Mob, The Faction, Parceros With Sombreros, La 12, or Terminus Legion) and once you find them tell them you’re visiting or have never been to a match before. I promise they will greet you with a beer and invite you to join them in whatever they are doing. The fans of Atlanta United are known for their southern hospitality.

Lady Bird

If you want a lazy Sunday afternoon outside with a few drinks and some friends Lady Bird is the place to go. It is a “mess-hall” or to me its just a bar, located on the BeltLine and has one of the best atmospheres you can find in the city. The drinks and food are a little pricy but it’s a great place to enjoy the weather and relax. Sometimes it can get a bit busy and it can seem a little more like a frat party but it really varies day-by-day.

Little 5 Points

One of the most iconic places in Atlanta is Little 5 Points. This neighborhood is great to go walk around and explore. You could say it is the center of the art and music culture of the city.. At least it used to be.

Eat at The Vortex or Savage Pizza and also be sure to stop by WISH which is a sick store with limited edition apparel and sneakers. Even if you’re not into that kind of stuff its a great place to look around.

Smoke Ring BBQ

You can’t visit georgia without getting some BBQ. Ive lived in Atlanta for over 10 years and this is by far my favorite BBQ place. It is located close to Mercedes - Benz stadium. I can’t recommend just one thing on the menu because it is all amazing. You can go and point to something with your eyes closed and I promise you’ll like it.

Havana Night Club

If you want to have a good night out in The ATL go to Havana Night Club. There are 3 different rooms, one with Latin music (my favorite), one with generic Top 100 Hits, and one that is more House/EDM. To me Havanna is perfect because if you go with a group of friends there is enough variety that everyone is happy. Cover is $20 which is about average in the city.

If you want to go out somewhere that doesn’t have cover then visit the Buckhead bars or Virginia Highlands. To get to the Buckhead Bars put Stagecoach or Big Sky in your GPS/Uber App and it will take you to a street full of bars, but the scene is more college age kids, Virginia Highlands is more of the young adult crowd. To get to this street of bars put “Dark Horse” in your map, it is a great bar to start the night at too.
